Los Angeles’ new trendy Galleria shopping center is set to open its doors this spring.
Dubbed the Macys, the retail complex will be the latest to bring trendy stores and restaurants to the city’s commercial core.
According to the mall’s official website, the complex will include a mix of trendy retail, dining and entertainment venues.
The Macys is expected to be the first in the Los Angeles area to open this spring, which means a new neighborhood will be in the works.
“Los Angeles is a city that has always been in the spotlight for its vibrant, exciting, and eclectic lifestyle, but now with this new addition, we’re really going to take our brand of hipster to a whole new level,” said Scott Feltus, senior vice president of retail at Macys.
The mall is slated to open in the heart of Downtown Los Angels neighborhood, and it will be a destination for fans of the city, according to a release from Macys Los Angeles.
The chain, which has a total of 18 stores across Southern California, will be headquartered in Los Angeles, and the mall will be its first store outside of California.
“Macys is a family-owned company that was founded in 1990 and we are proud to bring the unique and vibrant lifestyle to Los Angeles,” said Rob Hahn, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Macys LA.
“The new Macys will add another element of convenience to our downtown L.A. shopping experience, while making it easy for our customers to connect with their friends and family here in the region.”
According to a report from LAist, Macys plans to open three stores in the new district.
The shopping center will also feature an expansive patio area, as well as a restaurant and bar, and will offer a variety of food and beverage options.
The Los Angeles Times reports that a total renovation of the mall is expected by late spring, with construction scheduled to start later in the year.
